Here are the methods to use for rating someones DPS.
1) They must use their own buffs only -- no buffs from other players, scrolls, potions, elixirs, or flasks.
2) The rating will last for 1 minute and 20 seconds. They can burn their trinkets and cool downs. You'll notice that 1 minute and 20 seconds is not enough time to burn them twice, but is close. BE SURE, to record their rating at the 1 minute and 20 second mark. This will give ample time for burst DPS to average into their rating.
3) Make sure they are not using AOE's that are encompassing other target dummies, but if they position themselves correctly, they can still be used.
4) Make sure that no other player is putting debuffs on the target dummy that would benefit the ratee.
5) The heroic target dummy must be used (the skull).
6) Rating must be accomplished by an officer.
7) Follow these special rules that are class specific:

- Druids can use Starfall, but must position themselves carefully so that it only hits the heroic target dummy.
- Rogues can use Preparation and Poisons
- Alchemists can use Flasks of the North (This is to account for an Alchemists ability to get EXTRA effect from their regular flasks used in a raid).
- Items usable by everyone (such as the leatherworker created Drum of Forgotten Kings and Drums of the Wild etc etc) cannot be used during DPS testing
